Hi, everybody! It's about time I bother to make a bio, since I'm on here so much.
Alright, for starters I'm thirteen (yeah, I know. My stories are a little mature.), my favorite color is purple, I'm in L-O-V-E with Justin Drew Bieber, and I write ALL THE TIME.
And, about my stories...
I'm totally stuck on 'Bad Teacher', ‘Sold’, ‘Saving Grace’, and all my other stories that I haven’t updated, so anyone with any ideas whatsoever COME FORWARD AND SHARE!
Speaking of not updating, I'm really sorry, but I've been a little busy. The Belin-Blank 'Gifted and Talented' program has been stalking me. At least, that's what it seems like. But, I HAVE GOOD NEWS FROM THEM!
First, let me explain Belin-Blank: It's a bunch of people who find kids that are 'gifted' and then they make them participate in a bunch of talent programs. And according to my school counselor, who's in charge of this stuff, I'm a very gifted young lady.
Anyways, so Belin-Blank, one of it's programs is the BSI summer camp. How it works is every junior high in the entire state is sent a bunch of forms for this camp. And every teacher in the school, seventh and eighth grade, selects a kid for each of the eight classes at BSI, which are Math and Problem Solving, Advanced Science, Global and Cultural Studies, Social Sciences, Creative Writing, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Invention and Innovation. So then, all the teachers get together and talk about you and test you without you knowing about it, then they pick one kid they want to nominate for the entire junior high for each of the eight subjects.
Well, I got nominated for Creative Writing. Then the counselor wastes all your study hall classes, and during this time you get two teacher recommendation forms, a parental consent form, and you put together this long list of personal achievements and hobbies, and you write an essay about why you should be chosen. So then the counselor asked for writing samples, and since I was kind of annoyed, I wasn't taking it seriously. I gave him a few short stories, a few chapters of my novel I'm writing, and on a whim, the first several chapters of Teenage Drama Is Worse With Celestial Bronze. Just the G-rated chapters. Justine Bieber, flying girl, jealous boyfriends, spinning hearts, and all. Well, evidently they liked it, because a few weeks ago, I got my acceptance letter.
So now, this summer, I'm driving for like three hours to the University of Iowa and staying there in a dorm for a week. Fourteen other 'gifted writers' will be there with me, along with fifteen kids for each of the seven classes. I'll take college-level writing classes every day, and we'll swim and go on field trips to theatres and my class will be taught by published authors. So yeah.
And I’m also getting sent to the ‘Taking The Road Less Traveled’ meaning I get up at 3 am so I can get in a van and be on the highway riding with other girls to the University of Iowa by 5 so we can take math and science classes because we’re such ‘gifted young ladies’, but this is just a one-day thing.
AND they’re making me do the BESTS program, where they take me and a bunch of other ‘gifted’ people, and lock them in a room for five hours and make them take the ACTs and the SATs.
So I feel stalked. And I did find out something moderately disturbing. While we’re at the BSI and taking the tests and doing the classes, they’re studying and running tests us so the mere mortals can better understand us. It bothers me a little. It’s like something out of The Mysterious Benedict Society or something. Well, the tests are like, common characteristics and how we interact and think and stuff, not like, lab rat sci-fi stuff. It still bothers me.
And because I’m doing this, instead of doing fun classes like study hall and orientation with my friends, in eighth grade next year, I’m taking freshman science, algebra, French (and almost all the kids can’t do world language), high level L.A., second level social studies, band, and gym. All my friends and everyone else except for a few other freaks like me take regular science, algebra prep, Family and Consumer Sciences, regular language arts, regular social studies, band or study hall, and gym.
UGH. Anyways, I’ll shut up now about that.
So I have a HE-YUGE favor to ask of you, my fellow writers. You see, I am writing a novel. Yes, a novel. I have it to about a hundred and fifty pages. And I would absolutely love it if you would contact me and proofread at least part of it. It’s called Waverly Academy for the Highly Gifted, and it’s about a girl named Emma Holloway who gets kidnapped during a power outage and sent to a secret academy for gifted children in the middle of somewhere really cold in Canada. The kids aren’t told exactly where, since it’s top secret, and famous kids go there, or have gone there. But one of the teachers is embezzling money from her friend Ashton’s (a Disney star) acting contracts, but none of the teachers believe Emma and her friends so they have to enlist the help of a society of annoying prankster boys called the White Wolves to help Emma expose the teacher.
So yeah. I should probably shut up and stop boring you and let you go. If you have any suggestions for my stories, or want me to edit anything of yours, or you would like to help edit my novel, contact me! And if you want to ask questions about me, That Gifted Writer Freak Girl, as the popular people refer to me as, just ask. Anyways, thanks for taking the time to listen to yours truly, who never shuts up, ever. Byeeeeeeee!
